Research

Our research addresses many important questions about sleep and mental health:

  • How does sleep help us to regulate our emotions ?

  • What happens to memories of aversive experiences during sleep ?

  • Can offline memory processing be harnessed as a therapeutic tool ?

We address these questions with a rigorous research programme that combines experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience and psychophysiology.

The EPOC lab is part of the Department of Psychology at the University of York.

Please contact us if you are interested in pursuing a PhD project on sleep, memory or emotion regulation.
